Before installation - what is it need for WCfO installation

WAP Connection for Outlook have to be installed on the same computer as MobilChange itself, because WCfO uses many of MobilChange components.

Before installing WCfO, please see here how does WCfO work.

There is two required applications, that should be installed before WCfO:

Microsoft RRAS Server

MS RRAS Server is improved version of RAS Server. It is available as a post-fix for Windows NT4 and it is included in Windows 2000 Server.

If you have Windows NT 4.0, download RRAS from here and install it. We recommend to apply NT4 Service Pack 6a after installing RRAS.

Windows 2000 Server users should install RRAS from Windows Setup.

Configure RRAS to use at least one device dialable from your mobile phone. We recommend you to use GSM modem (such as Siemens M20T) or ISDN device (such as CAPI card).

If you'll use GSM modem connected to serial port, don't forget that (in comparison to analog modems) most GSM modems doesn't support serial line settings autodetection - so you have to configure RRAS port to speed and settings specified in GSM modem manual. For example, Siemens M20T is locked to 19200/8/1/N communication with XON/XOFF flow control and will not work with any other setting.

Some GSM modems are not very reliable for this task. See tested GSM modems list.

Microsoft Internet Information Server

Part of WAP Connection for Outlook is programmed as ASP pages. So you have to install Microsoft IIS version 4.0 or 5.0 and configure it.

If you're using Windows NT 4.0, IIS 4.0 is included in NT Option Pack - download it from here and install it.

Windows 2000 Server contain IIS 5.0 directly on installation CD, so you only have to configure it.

Both IIS 4.0 and 5.0 have to be configured so

Run "Internet Service Manager" (can be found under "NT Option Pack" folder in Start Menu on NT4), select your server and then "default web site". Click it by right mouse button and select "Properties.

Then select "Directory security" tab and edit security settings.

Check "allow anonymous access" checkbox.

Select "Documents" tab and check, if "default.asp" is listed in default documents list. If there is no "default.asp" document listed, click on "Add" and create it. Then move it to the first position of list (if not already there).
