Tested GSM modems for WAP server usage

This is a list of GSM modems that has been tested for WAP server usage.

Brand Usability Comments

Ericsson GC-25 Poor Siemens phones (35 series) has to be set to "Analog" connection mode instead of ISDN (so handshaking takes about 20 seconds - very slow).
Ericsson phones (R320s) can't connect to Ericsson GC-25 at all (both ISDN and analog mode).
Init string "+CFUN=1" must be entered in modem configuration.
Communication settings: 9600/8/1/N, XON/XOFF.
Select "Standard modem 9600 bps" in Windows NT modem list and add init string described above!

Siemens M20T Good Works good with connections from Siemens (35 series), Nokia (7110, 6210) and Motorola phones.
Ericsson phones (R320s) has to be set to "Analog" connection mode instead of ISDN (so handshaking takes about 20 seconds - very slow).
Communication settings: 19200/8/1/N, XON/XOFF.
Select "Standard modem 19200 bps" in Windows NT modem list.
