FaxChange features

User features

Address template
Address template contains new items and allows to set addressee's language as well as maximum transfer speed and required CSID. The required CSID must addressee have set on his faxmachine otherwise FaxChange will not send the fax. This relates to the safety "fuse" upon the sending of faxes.
Send Options
FaxChange allows new items to be set in the Send Options menu. In comparison to FaxChange 3.0 the following options were added:

ATTENTION ! May be, that Send Options on Exchange2000 aren't visible right after the installation, thats why you have to do as follows:

or
Improved support of faxing from contacts
The user may use ContactChanger - tool which checks and alters contacts in folders and repairs their addresses so a to allow the item to be filled in as the firm appears on the fax cover sheet.
New forms for Outlook
The new forms are fully integrated with the Microsoft Outlook environment and take advantage of the Imaging graphical representation of faxes and previews. This function is accessible only for Microsoft Outlook users. It works only on computers on which Imaging is installed (all versions of Windows NT, 95-SR2 and 98). Imaging for Windows 95 is downloadable from Microsoft at address: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q140980/. Here you find installation instructions and link for download.
Shared fax printer
Printer for the local fax conversion allows sharing. You install the printer on the server and simply connect to it. This way you solve problems of access rights to the printer from within the Windows NT/2000 workstation where the user normally must have the right to install new printers. The printer is automatically connected after the initial use of FaxChange.
Paper fax module
If in the future you need to send a standard paper fax it is possible via a suitably integrated/connected fax machine. From the classic fax machine you simply send the fax to FaxChange and then FaxChange takes care of it's sending whilst observing all advantages of FaxChange i.e. off-peak sending, routing etc. The main advantage is, however, the possibility to create a complete central fax archive.
Scanner module
This module provides another option when sending paper faxes.
Support of contacts and appointments from MS Outlook.
If you send via fax a contact or post an appointment request it will be correctly converted and FaxChange will send them via fax.
VCF signature file
If you are using VCF files as signatures on your e-mails, FaxChange correctly converts and inserts it as part of the fax.
Inserted file as a cover page
If the user inserts a *.CVS cover page file, FaxChange uses it as a cover page within the fax sending process. The user of course must have the correct rights to change the cover page at any time.
New association strategy of TIFF files
TIFF files now can be but don't have to be associated with FXView faxviewer. It is important for organizations that use different types of TIFF files than fax types. The association of TIFF with FxView is then otherwise very problematic.
Incoming fax editing
User can edit incoming fax using Outlook form and then forward.

Administrative features

OCR Routing
OCR modul has OCR routing capability. Module is searching for possible fax recipient on cover page. This feature is not recommended as main routing mechanism, but it can help in case where other routing methods are not possible.
Oracle SQL module
Oracle SQL support on Windows and Unix.
Statistic module
It is able to create graphs about fax lines performance through web interface or through COM objects (e.g. in Excel...).
Brooktrout PRI
PRI ISDN lines support on Brooktrout cards.
Lotus Domino and Lotus Notes
Faxchange supports Lotus Domino/Notes R5 - R7.0 and FX Admin tool for Faxchange users administration from Lotus Domino/Notes environment.
Microsoft Outlook forms for SMTP
Microsoft Outlook forms used with Exchange gateway are now available with SMTP FaxChange gateway.
FaxMailing - summary report
FaxChange send summary reports about faxmailing status.
Setting of printing incoming faxes for the user
Incoming faxes printing can be simply set in fxUserManager for every user.
Active Directory Extension, Exchange 2000/2003 support
Faxchange can be used with Exchange 2000/2003 now.
Administration of users in Windows 200x with Exchange 200x can be directly integrated into the Active Directory and not via the aid of any other synchronised database. Changes in rights and user setup are then immediately expressed after change in Active Directory Users and Computers.
New database interface
Access to the databases is basically faster and more reliable.
New fax card drivers
The new driver for the faxmodem type ClassX is capable of Class2, Class1, and Class 2.0. Upon choosing the suitable type it is necessary to check the list of tested modems or contact the support. A new Brooktrout driver is also supplied.
Priority of inbound routing (PABX / CSID / line)
The administrator may now define in which sequence the direct routing of faxes will be assessed (PABX / CSID / line / OCR)
Ignoring of selected inserted files
The administrator may configure which type of files FaxChange should ignore within document conversion. As standard it ignores EXE, DLL, BIN, OVL, CTL files.
ID of faxes
Every fax within FaxChange has its own unique identification number. Besides this number FaxChange may also generate a further number in such a form so as to allow it to be used in parallel with other applications. "Special ID" syntax is 1998/08/19-000563.
New items on the cover page
Apart from the fax items CC and TO the new items CC (Email) and TO (Email) were created which depict the content as shown similarly in Email systems.
FaxChange API
  1. External archiving
For programmers a DLL file is prepared for external archiving. The DLL receives data about every fax that is written into the archive.
  2. External log
The external DLL log handles all logging of FaxChange operations. The sample DLL is part of the FaxChange API.
  3. Atempt-Hook
This DLL file is informed about all attempts within FaxChange to either send or receive faxes.
  4. Mail Robot
This is a module for sending faxes from a directory. If you are running an application from which you wish to automatically send a fax it is necessary only to locate the data to be sent in the defined directory. Then Mail Robot takes care of the rest.
