Number dialing configuration

You must correctly set dialing configuration under HKLM/SOFTWARE/Datasys/Faxchange/global/dial registry key (settings mentioned here are related to this key) to dial numbers correctly by Faxchange. Most settings can be done using fxCfg and setup since Faxchange version 6.6.10 (Czech Republic mode is set by default), older versions require registry editation.

We recommend to check these settings after installation and repair them if necessary

Faxchange allows to dial numbers in two manners:

  1. "Czech Republic" mode
There are no area codes and long distance prefixes - for both local and long distance calls is always full nine-cipher number dialed (number's full form). Corresponding settings in registry and fxCfg (Faxchange since 6.6.10 is set in this way by setup):

    Registry fxCfg - Dial
full_national_number 1 Don't distinguish local and intercity calls checked
intercity empty Long distance prefix empty
    ourcity empty Area Code empty
uselocalprefix setting (Always use Area code in fxCfg) is ignored. If you send a fax from Prague with this configuration, numbers are dialed like this:

    Prague number +420 2 61388221 261388221
    Liberec number +420 483 123456 483123456
    Slovakia +421 12345678 0042112345678
  2. "out of Czech Republic" mode
Numbers are dialed with consideration of area codes and long distance prefixes - for local calls is not dialed area code of your city, for long distance calls is added long distance prefix. Corresponding setings in registry and fxCfg:

    Registry fxCfg - Dial
full_national_number 0 Don't distinguish local and intercity calls not checked
intercity long distance prefix, usually 0 Long distance prefix long distance prefix, usually 0
ourcity your city area code, for Prague 2 Area code your city area code, for Prague 2
Now is active uselocalprefix=0/1 setting (Always use Area code=not checked/checked in fxCfg): If you send a fax from Prague with this configuration and uselocalprefix=0, numbers are dialed like this:

    Prague number +420 2 61388221 61388221
    Liberec number +420 483 123456 0483123456
    Slovakia +421 12345678 0042112345678

After change to uselocalprefix=1 are calls from Prague dialed in this way:

    Prague number +420 2 61388221 0261388221
    Liberec number +420 483 123456 0483 123456
    Slovakia +421 12345678 0042112345678
So you can use this configuration also in CR with empty intercity, then calls are successful.
Special setting: always_remove (in registry only)
Empty by default; if non-empty, its content is trimmed from the beginning of dialed phone numbers, so if "99" is set here and you send fax to 99123456, number is processed as 123456. This function is used e.g. in SPP company, where numbers in addressbook are stored in form 000420xxxxxxx (international) or 002xxxxxxxxxx (intrastate). Using this feature one zero is cut out.
