GSM line driver allows to send and receive SMS through direct communication with a SMS centre of GSM operator. The price for SMS sending is usually lower than when sending through the hardware module; but usually has to be paid high installation fee, plus monthly payment.

By some operators (e.g. T-Mobile CZ) is this service available only for important clients.

The main advantage of GSM line driver is much higher performance -- it can process more than 10 000 SMS messages per hour.

At this time, two transport protocols are supported:

• SMSC EMI - tested with T-Mobile CZ, T-Mobile SK (formerly Eurotel SK), Orange SK.
  EMI protocol is used also by SMS Connect service from T-Mobile CZ.
• Tanger EOTEL BMG - tested with O2 (Eurotel) CZ. T-Mobile SK will probably work.
