Problem: | How to (globaly) restrict maximum speed used for fax sending through various fax cards? |
Problem description:
In some cases it is necesary to restrict maximum fax speed for all faxes, for example if phone line has low quality. Drivers for Brooktrout TR114 cards, faxmodems and CAPI cards (vxfxcapi.exe from version 1.2.0) have this feature.
Solution:
Restriction is set via registry. Values below are located under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Datasys\Faxchange key, if not stated otherwise.
line#\brooktrout\maxbitrate
value, where # is line number.
global\system\class2maxspeed
value. This setting is valid for all lines
driven by faxmodem driver.
MaxSpeed\RemoteNumber\<caller's number>
item. If found, reads it and uses as fax receiving speed.MaxSpeed\LocalNumber\<called number>
item. If found, reads it and uses as fax receiving speed.MaxSpeed\Default
item and uses as fax receiving speed. If item doesn't exist, 0 (zero) is used, i.e. automatic speed selection.
MaxSpeed\RemoteNumber\<called number>
item. If found, reads it and uses as fax sending speed.MaxSpeed\Default
item and uses as fax sending speed. If item doesn't exist, 0 (zero) is used, i.e. automatic speed selection.
MaxSpeed\Default
works like global fax sending/receiving speed through CAPI,
if not specified otherwise.
Further information:
Restriction of maximum speed for individual addresses can be set in fax address properties dialog, "FaxChange Advanced" tab.
