Problem: Installation of FaxChange on Windows 2003 SBS

Problem description:

Installation of FaxChange 6.0 fails during FaxChange Connector creation into Windows 2003 SBS system ( in some cases, connector is successfully created, but FaxChange don't work at all ). All the services are running, but no mails are routed to FaxChange.

Solution:

Windows 2003 SBS and Exchange installed in this environment have the service Microsoft Exchange MTA Stacks disabled by default. Here is the core of the problem, for successfull installation of FaxChange is needed to follow these steps:

  1. Start Regedit and delete 4 records - not only its values, but whole records:
    [HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/MSExchangeIS/your_server_name/Public-guid_of_public_mdb/Gateway In Threads]
    [HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/MSExchangeIS/your_server_name/Public-guid_of_public_mdb/Gateway Out Threads]
    [HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/MSExchangeIS/your_server_name/Private-guid_of_public_mdb/Gateway In Threads]
    [HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/MSExchangeIS/your_server_name/Private-guid_of_public_mdb/Gateway Out Threads]
  2. Enable service "Microsoft Exchange MTA Stacks" and set it to Automatic start
  3. Restart SBS2003 server. It's needed due to point 1
  4. Instal product FaxChange 6.0 in the standard way
If you have FaxChange already installed and these changes are made after the FaxChange installation, you have to install FaxChange again over the previous instalation
