Problem: Service FaxChange.Gate.Mail doesn't start (on Exchange2000)

Problem description:

Service FaxChange.Gate.Mail doesn't start. In the application log is error with message "Unknown Error". In system log there is a message "The service did not start due to a logon failure".

Solution:

Logon into Windows with the same account, that is used for FaxChange services. Create new profile for Outlook and connect it to mailbox "FaxChange_SERVERNAME". Check if you have apropriate rights to log on. Try to log on, create new message and delete the message. If you are unable to log onto the mailbox, you have to set apropriate rights to this mailbox for you account:

Run the application Exchange System Manager. Right-mouse-click on the Exchange server where the mailbox "FaxChange_SERVERNAME" exist. The list of servers is in menu Servers. After the right click, choose Properties option. In the window choose Security tab and uncheck "Allow inheritable......" option. Choose O.K. and close all Exchange Administrator windows.

Run Active Diretory Users and Computers and in the menu View allow "Advanced Features" option

Then in Active Directory Users and Computers choose Properties of the user FaxChange_SERVERNAME and move on to Security tab. Here you have to set rights for Faxchange service account and every group which is account member of, ALLOW for "Send as" and "Receive as" rights.

In Active Directory Users and computers move on to the Exchange Advanced tab of the FaxChange_SERVERNAME user and choose Mailbox Rights button ( If there is no Mailbox Rights option, you have to allow Advance Features - read above) Look, if the FaxChange service account have full mailbox access for FaxChange_SERVERNAME mailbox + Send As, Receive As.

If the user have these right already, you can connect to the mailbox FaxChange_SERVERNAME from the account which is used for FaxChange services. Try it ! Also FaxChange.Gate.Mail service should start now. If you are able to connect to the mailbox, but the service still doesn't start, make these steps:

zou are logged onto the Windows with the FaxChange service account. Create new profile in Outlook and choose your own name of the profile. It doesn't matter which name you choose. Then run REGEDIT and in the folder HKLM/software/datasys/faxchange/global/exchange/ create new text record "mbagent_profile" and set the value to profile name you create right now

This is possible to do with FaxChange 5.1.11 version and higher only.
