Problem: InterMail Post.Office server support – server and SMTP/POP3 gateway configuration

Problem description:

Mail server InterMail Post.Office (available at www.software.com) ) is now supported by FaxChange.

Solution:

Configuration:

Let’s assume that your server handles mail for zln.com domain.

Before Faxchange installation it is necessary to prepare special mailbox which collects fax messages from clients.
It is suitable to disable "Send a greeting to Newly created accounts" option in "System Config – Set Mail Routing Options" before you create this mailbox.

If this option is not disabled then server sends a greeting message to Faxchange and it process it as a fax. But in this case sender’s address (Accounts@[IP_of_your_server]) isn’t real maibox, so postmaster gets two error messages about undeliverable mail.

After creation of that mailbox you can "Seand a greeting ..." option turn on again.

Set primary address for Faxchange’s mailbox for example to Faxchange@zln.com and secondary to *@fax.zln.com.
This way is fax routing set to send "faxchange" messages into this mailbox.

In the "System Config – Set Mail Routing" Options set Local Mail Domains to fax.zln.com domain together with zln.com.

Now restart Faxchange.Server and Faxchange.SmtpPop3 services.

This solution was tested with Outlook 98.
