Problem description:

On MS Echange server 5.5 with installed Service Pack 3 (only SP3) and FaxChange (there is no dependency on SPacks) following problemm occure:

On client stations is not possible delete / move / copy more, than one mail at time. Outlook user select two or more emails and select delete, copy or move on the screen progressbar is displayed for long time and nothing happened.

Solution:

Run Performance Optimizer and select check box "Connector/Directory Import server" This will create registry key HKLM/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/MSExchangeIS/ParametersSystem/ with value REG_DWORD "Background Threads" (for example 20 hex).

Other possibility is change "Background Threads" value in registry and restart Exchange Information Store service (also dependent services). Microsoft Support tells that value can be up to 64 hex.

You can create value manually without running Performance Optimizer.

Probably described trouble is bug in SP 3 for Exchange 5.5, at one moment only one connector to other system can run.

Behaviour description:

• If only Exchange Internet mail connector is installed, there are no troubles;
• If only Faxchange fax gateway is isntalled, there are no troubles;
• If both gateways are installed problem occure when both services are running at time. It is enough stop one of them and trouble not occure.
• If Exchange IMC, FaxChange fax gateway and MobilChange GSM gateway are installed problem occure when two or all services running in any combination. One gateway (no matter which one) can run without any trouble.
