Problem description:

From FaxChange 4.0 + SP1 (4.0.30 or newer) is in FaxChange support for database Oracle SQL. Instalation you may instaled on local machine (NT Server with FaxChange) or on remote system (NT or other platform such as HP-UX). This KB record described how to install FaxChange with Oracle located on remote HP-UX machine.

Solution:

FaxChange instalation with remote Oracle database on HP-UX:

1. Create Oracle database using standard utilities including password file for remote access to database with password "internal".
2. Run FaxChange Setup. In part Oracle configuration DON'T CHECK [Oracle server runs locally], fill instances SID. Don't check [Create new instance], to [Oracle server host name] write IP adress of Oracle server and fill password for "internal".
3. Remaining steps of setup are standard FaxChange setup.

Tested with FaxChange 4.0.28 (SP1) and Oracle for HP-UX version 8.0.5.
