Problem description:

How is possible to convert of MS Office documents without MS Office -- using some free available program? For example: by WordView, ExcelView, PPTView ?

Solution:

Yes as well as No.

• MS Excel documents is possible to convert by ExcelView
• MS PowerPoint documents is possible to convert by PPTView, but only on older systems (Windows NT4, 2000), conversion doesn't work on Win2003SP1R2
• MS Word documents is not possible to convert by WordView, because WordView installation does not add association for printing.

So, if you can need to convert only the documents XLS and PPT, you can save one license of MS Office, but if you need to work also with MS Word documents, then installation of MS Office is necessary.

How to activate conversion with ExcelView/PPTView:

Install ExcelView / PPTView. Installation of these programms adds to Explorer association on the opening and printing of documents XLS and PPT (it is possible to verify this by the rigth-click of button on the file XLS / PPT: is in the menu item "Print"? Does it work?) No other configuration of FaxChange is required.

WARNING! If MS Office was already installed on the computer, ExcelView a PPTView installation does not create assotiation with XLS / PPT documents.
