SAP gateway for FaxChange |
You can't send faxes from SAP through FaxChange with Lotus Notes or SMTP/POP3 gateway.
Fax from SAP has one problem - it contain fax number as a sender's address. It is a fax number of SAP user (set in SAP addressbook). So FaxChange have to translate that number into correct MS Exchange account. Message is then processed in standard way. Fax preview and subsequent e-mails (delivery reports and so on) are sent into MS Exchange (MS Outlook) mailbox of the sender, not to SAP.
Received fax are directed into MS Exchange Server (MS Outlook) also.
Administrator will also receive an e-mail from gateway with information, that unknown user has tried to send a fax and a message is written into application eventlog. Administrator can see name and fax number of sender in information message:
Now, administrator should run fxAddrTranslator
program from
Start Menu - Programs - FaxChange - Tools. After it is started, you can see the following screen:
There is a list of SAP user's fax numbers and assigned MS Exchange user accounts. Unknown (unassigned) users are marked with red icon. Click on any unassigned user and you'll see following dialog. Enter a user name or alias ...
... and then press "Resolve name". User is found in MS Exchange addressbook and applications read it's full name and Exchange address. Now you should press "OK" so new record is saved.
When this assignment is saved, user can send faxes from SAP without any problems. Fax preview , delivery reports and so on are sent to his/her MS Exchange / MS Outlook mailbox.
More information about fxAddrTranslator
:
fxAddrTranslator

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Datasys\FaxChange\global\system\DisableSAP
If SAP gateway is disabled or there is no activation key for it, and a SAP user tries to send fax, message will be lost and two events are written into application eventlog:
Event ID = 26 Type = Error Source = FaxChange.Gate.Fax Error processing message! Event ID = 2 Type = Information Source = FaxChange.Gate.Fax Additional information: sender's address type isn't EX !!!
Translation table between fax number and a MS Exchange account can be found in registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Datasys\FaxChange\ForeignMailSystems\FAX\
so you can modify in from other application (or you can do batch import for example
via regedit.exe).
