During the installation of DATAYS UMS, you need to activate it. Activation is the process by which the specific licenses in the customer's voucher are tied to the identifiers of the specific computers on which the product will be installed. This information about which machine the product will run on is recorded in the activation server database. Upon successful activation, the customer receives a digitally signed activation file that confirms the validity of the activation. Based on the information in this activation file, DATASYS UMS verifies the validity of the license.
During activation, the DATASYS UMS installer communicates with the activation server. The installer forwards an activation request to the activation server, which contains information about which licenses in which voucher need to be activated and on which computer. If the request is valid, the activation server returns an activation file confirming the validity of the activation.
If the installer has Internet connectivity, communication between the installer and the activation server is online and easiest for the administrator. In the event that an Internet connection is not available, communication between the installer and the activation server is provided via files.
